The Artist

“I paint outside the lines—on purpose! My work involves emotion and expression, allowing fluid forms to tell a story.”

Hi, I’m Jennifer Caroline DiGaetano (or JCD for short), and I’m the artist behind JCD Fluid Art Works. I create mixed-media fluid art that blends function and beauty. From serving pieces and drinkware to game trays and decorative wall art, I love working with fluid acrylics, epoxy resin, metal leafing, and alcohol inks to create unique and vibrant pieces.

My studio is in my cozy home in Western NY, where I’m constantly inspired by the woods and water surrounding me. Growing up, I moved around a lot, spending much of my childhood in nature. Those experiences left a lasting impression on me and continue to be a big source of inspiration for my work.

My artistic journey started young when my mom taught me how to quilt, cross-stitch, and embroider. From there, I spent my first two years of college in culinary arts, learning that plating food can be an art form in itself. It wasn’t until 2019 that I fell in love with painting, sparked by a piece I saw in a gallery while on vacation. Now, I spend part of my time in my studio, balancing my art with teaching at a local high school.

You can find my work at Points Mercantile in Sodus Point, NY, or displayed at galleries like RoCo and the Rochester Central Library. I also love connecting with people at artisan fairs, so check out my events calendar if you want to meet in person!

What started as a curiosity and a hobby quickly became an obsession—fluid art is now my true passion! I love experimenting with different pouring techniques and fluid mix recipes. Every session in my studio feels like therapy; during the pandemic, I would lose myself in the process for hours on end. Working with fluid art brings me peace, a sense of calm, and memories of my youth. I’m lucky to have my family and friends' support—they keep me inspired and creative.

My work is all about blending functional art with inspiration from the natural world—whether it’s the colors of landscapes and skies or the visions I get during my chronic migraines. I’m fascinated by how different tools and recipes react with each other, which means the design possibilities are endless!

Materials I Love:

  • Fluid Acrylics

  • Alcohol Ink

  • Epoxy Resin

  • Mica Pigments

What I Work On:

  • Canvas

  • Wood

  • Synthetic Paper

I believe in giving back to the community. Each year, I plan a “giving series” where a portion of the proceeds is donated to a cause that inspired the project. One of my favorites is the Silver Waters series, inspired by time spent on Lake Ontario and Sodus Bay. The series supports fundraising for Silver Waters Ambulance, the local ambulance service in my hometown.

I’ve partnered with Upstart Epoxy to create some fun process videos, and I have big dreams for the future. I want to grow my audience, showcase my work in more galleries, and one day have my own studio space where I can host workshops and share my passion for fluid art with others.
